Unit Summary
Hinduism would be considered a false religion, not a cult. It is also considered by many as more of a philosophy than a religion.
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die, believest thou this?" - John 11:25,26
1. Hinduism has been easily adopted by people in the West recently because it offers many similarities to evolutionary humanism.
2. It offers a subjective intuitive experience through Yoga and other forms of Hindu meditation.
3. The main Hindu Vedanta philosophy is that "all is one" or Monism.
4. To a Hindu all is god. You and I are god and so is all of the creation.
5. The ultimate goal of a Hindu is to liberate oneself from this "physical personal existence" and become one with the "Impersonal All"
6. People reach this goal only after thousands of year of birth and rebirth in the cycle of reincarnation.
7. Worship of Hindu deities, yoga, chanting mantras, and other techniques are used by Hindus to progress along this path of "enlightenment" toward that ultimate goal.
8. There is no value give to the Bible, to the God of the Bible or to salvation through Jesus Christ.
9. Jesus is thought to be an avatar. A way shower, to guide others to enlightenment.
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement:" - Hebrews 9:27
"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ, once and for all." - Hebrews 10:10
